Hatha yoga

At ageless-yoga, we practice hatha yoga. Hatha yoga is one of the earliest forms of yoga and has developed over the centuries to form the basis of many of the different styles of yoga you may see advertised.

Hatha classes provide an opportunity to stretch, unwind, and release tension, providing a good counterpoint to busy lifestyles. It is a slow, gentle, relaxed yoga that focuses on breath, body and mind. It is a style of yoga that is very well suited to beginners.

Classes typically start with a gentle warm-up, progress to more physical yoga postures, and end with a short period of savasana rest and meditation. This is another opportunity to focus on your breathing while you relax.

The yoga postures (asanas) are a series of poses and movements that help to improve balance, flexibility and strength. These include postures that involve lying flat on the floor, sitting or standing. Although hatha is relatively gentle, you may find some of the postures physically and mentally challenging, particularly at the start. But as you go through the movements, we will help you to focus on your breath and give you modified poses to try as alternatives for any that feel too hard.
